The Central Valley Is So Overpriced
People are flocking out of the Bay Area and over the Altamont Pass for cheap housing, and yet Stockton is more overpriced than San Francisco? Modesto residents get no more from their housing dollars than they would in the Inner Bay Area?
Chico?
| city | % overpriced |
|---|---|
| Chico | 43 |
| Stockton | 34 |
| San Francisco | 30 |
| Modesto | 30 |
| Sacramento | 25 |
| Fresno | 19 |
| Reno | 19 |
| Bakersfield | 5 |
| Visalia | 2 |

That's a good question, and hopefully the CNN article I linked sufficently answers that. But the article's implication that the area just east of the Altamont Pass, with all its lower-priced housing, is more "overpriced" than San Francisco is what's really striking and is why I linked the article.
I would rather live in a world class overpriced city like SF or Oakland than in a boring arid place like the central valley. YUCK
